coach dougDoug Hodges, PGA Professional and Founder of ThinkWorkPlay has extensive experience as a golf professional. He trained at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. For more than 20 years Hodges has researched and studied the mental aspects of golf and ways to achieve optimal performance. Hodges uses his passion for mental and emotional game coaching with cutting-edge biofeedback training to give pro and college golfers the opportunity to play to their potential.

He is a certified HeartMath Coach ( and uses this experience to help golfers transform stress, better regulate emotional responses, and harness the power of heart/brain communication. These processes will enable them to unlock their potential and perform at the highest level.

Hodges also founded SwingPals, a non-profit organization that uses mentoring in the classroom, on the golf course and in the community to teach students core values of being present, trusting, building confidence, self-esteem and finding clarity, so they grow to their potential.

Hodges was a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters for 15 years and served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle. He lives in North Raleigh with his wife Kathy and his sons, Grayson and Ben.

Coach Ocaly, Golf Coach / Instructor

Coach Ocaly

Coach Ocaly (“Coach O”) is a golf instructor and aspiring PGA professional, who is completing his PGA golf management degree at North Carolina State University. He has more than four years’ experience as an independent golf instructor in the Triangle.

After helping some of his friends’ swings, he developed an interest in studying the golf swing and soon began teaching. That interest led led him to pursue the PGA Golf Management program.

 In 2013, Ocaly initially joined SwingPals as a volunteer, and was thrilled to combine his passion for working with children with his passion for the game of golf.  He completed his PGA training with internships at Brier Creek Country Club, Falls Village Golf Course and Hillandale Golf Course.

When he is not on the golf course, Ocaly enjoys spending time with his wife, Lisanna, meals with friends, hiking, and Latin dancing!
